10-OH-HHCP vs THCP
Since all known psychoactive cannabinoids that have been on the market since the end of 2023 were banned in Germany at the end of June 2024, it hasn't taken long for new cannabinoids to take over. We have already been able to provide you with a rudimentary overview of 10-OH-HHC.
But what is 10-OH-HHCP all about and can it keep up with the potency of THCP ? In this article, we will make a comparison for you and see if the rumors can keep their promises.
What is 10-OH-HHCP?
We have already described what 10-OH-HHC is in our blog post about 10-OH-HHC. It is very similar here, except for the fact that HHCP is used as the starting material. Otherwise the process is the same.
10-OH-HHCP is created by adding a hydroxy group (-OH) to the tenth carbon atom of the HHCP molecule. This modification changes the properties and effects of the cannabinoid. 10-OH-HHCP shows a strong binding affinity to CB1 receptors and leads to more intense euphoric and relaxing effects than other cannabinoids.
It is present in a yellowish, syrupy, honey-like liquid.
Differences between 10-OH-HHCP and THCP
The differences between 10-OH-HHCP (10-hydroxy-hexahydrocannabiphorol) and THCP (tetrahydrocannabiphorol) can be summarized based on their chemical structure, potency, effects and uses:
Chemical structure
- THCP: THCP has a longer alkyl side chain with seven carbon atoms, which distinguishes it from THC and leads to stronger binding to the cannabinoid receptors.
- 10-OH-HHCP: 10-OH-HHCP is a hydroxylated derivative of HHCP. It has an additional hydroxy group at the 10th position of the molecule, which affects its chemical properties and potency.
power
- THCP: THCP is extremely potent and is described as being up to 33 times stronger than THC. This high potency results from its strong binding to the CB1 receptors in the brain.
- 10-OH-HHCP: 10-OH-HHCP is described as even more potent than THCP. The additional hydroxy group increases the binding affinity to the CB1 receptors, resulting in a more intense and longer lasting effect.
Effects
-
THCP: The effects of THCP are highly psychoactive and include intense euphoria, relaxation, and possibly psychedelic experiences. THCP has a high affinity for CB1 receptors, which explains the strong psychoactive effects.
- 10-OH-HHCP: 10-OH-HHCP has an even more intense effect than THCP, with a strong euphoric high and deep relaxation. The effects are long-lasting and can be more intense than those of THCP.
Applications
- THCP: Due to its high potency and strong psychoactive effects, THCP is being studied primarily in recreational and possibly medical research for specific applications
- 10-OH-HHCP: 10-OH-HHCP is used in smaller doses due to its extreme potency and is particularly suitable for experienced users looking for an intense effect. It could also be considered for therapeutic applications, especially in the treatment of severe pain or other severe symptoms.
Legal status
- THCP: Due to its structure, THCP has been subject to the fifth regulation of the New Psychoactive Substances Act since June 26, 2024 and may not be manufactured or sold in Germany since then.
- 10-OH-HHCP: Like many other new cannabinoids, 10-OH-HHCP is in a grey area in Germany. However, it is foreseeable that one day it will be banned like THCP due to the unclear study situation and to protect the health of the population.
Conclusion
In summary, 10-OH-HHCP has even higher potency and more intense effects compared to THCP, making it an interesting but also potentially riskier substance. Both cannabinoids have unique properties and applications that make them attractive to different user groups and research projects.
